Food & Drink
Recipe costing is where good cafes quietly lose money — a signature drink with 40 cents of unaccounted syrup, multiplied by 200 sales a day.
This toolkit builds your drink spec (hot, iced, or frozen) and shows calories, protein, sugar, and caffeine updating live as you adjust it. Built for menu development and nutrition transparency, not diet plans.
Questions
Where do the nutrition numbers come from?
From per-ingredient values for milk, syrups, sweeteners, toppings and espresso, added up as you build the drink. They're estimates. Brands differ, so check your actual product labels for anything you print on a menu.
How much caffeine is in an espresso shot?
About 63 mg for a single shot, though it varies with the bean, the grind and how it's pulled. Doubling the shots in the builder doubles the caffeine, and the total updates as you go.
Can I use this to figure out what a drink costs me?
This tool covers nutrition, not cost. For margins, work out the cost of each ingredient per serving separately, then compare that to your menu price. The nutrition side just helps you keep the spec consistent from one barista to the next.
