Why people reach for this
Marcus scanned a signed lease on the office copier, and now page two opens on its side in every viewer he tries. Or maybe it's a phone photo of a receipt, saved as a landscape PDF when the paper was clearly portrait. Either way, tilting your head to read it gets old fast.
This tool turns the whole document, or just the pages you pick, by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, and saves the new orientation into the file. A signed lease isn't something you want passing through a stranger's server for a one-second fix, so the turn happens on your own computer.
How to rotate a PDF
- Drop your PDF onto the box or click to browse. The page count appears next to the file name.
- Choose a direction from the "Rotation" menu: 90° clockwise, 180°, or 90° counter-clockwise. Then type page numbers into "Pages to rotate", or leave that field empty to turn every page.
- Click "Rotate PDF" and download the corrected file.
Your file stays on your device
Rotation is a tiny edit. The tool opens your file, changes the orientation setting on each page you chose, and writes the document back out. The page content itself isn't redrawn or re-encoded.
None of that needs a network. There's no copy of your lease or receipt sitting in someone's log files afterward, because it never left the tab you're looking at.
Because only a setting changes, rotating is also very fast and light on memory. A 200-page scan is done in moments, and the file size stays almost identical to what you started with.
Watch out for crooked scans
Rotation works in steps of 90 degrees, which is all the PDF format allows for a page's orientation setting. A scan that sits 3 degrees off because the paper fed in crooked will stay 3 degrees off. Straightening that is deskewing, a different job that needs image processing.
Rotation also stacks. If page two already carries a 90 degree flag and you add 90 more, it ends at 180. When a page looks wrong after rotating, apply the opposite turn to just that page and check each one before you send the file.
One more thing about phone photos: some cameras store a hidden orientation tag instead of rotating the pixels. If the PDF still looks wrong after the turn, you may be fighting that tag, so try the opposite direction on the affected page.

Questions
Can I rotate only some pages instead of the whole document?
Yes. Leave "Pages to rotate" empty to turn everything, or enter pages and ranges like "2, 5-7" to touch only those. Pages you don't list stay exactly as they were. Ranges can be typed in either direction, so "7-5" and "5-7" select the same three pages, and duplicates are ignored.
Is the rotation permanent, or just how it displays?
It's written into the PDF itself, as the rotation entry in each page's settings. Acrobat, Chrome, Preview, phone viewers and printers all respect it, so the page doesn't flip back when you close one app.
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Nothing gets re-rendered or recompressed. Text stays text, images keep their pixels, and the file size barely moves. That holds for scans and born-digital files alike, so a 40 MB scan comes back at essentially 40 MB.
What if a page was already rotated?
Your choice is added to whatever the page already has. A page stored at 90 degrees and rotated 90 more ends up at 180, so a sideways scan can be fixed the same way as a normal one.
Can I turn different pages in different directions?
Each run applies one direction. For a file where page 2 needs a clockwise turn and page 5 needs a counter-clockwise one, rotate the first, download, load that result, and rotate the second.
Do you keep a copy of my PDF?
No copy exists anywhere but your own device. The file is opened in this tab, edited in memory and saved straight back to your downloads.
