Your file stays on your device
The stamp gets drawn into each page by your browser. The original is read from disk, a marked copy is assembled in memory, and the download you receive is that copy.
The unmarked version isn't passed along to any server, so the clean contract exists only where you already keep it.
Everything you type into the text box is used only to draw the stamp. It isn't logged, and the settings reset when you reload the page, so a client name in a watermark won't follow you into the next session.
Watch out for thinking a watermark is security
A watermark is a deterrent, not a lock. It's ordinary page content, so anyone with a PDF editor can select it and press delete, and a determined person can crop or paint over it. If the document really has to stay private, use password protection instead, or on top of the mark.
A few practical limits too. The text is set in Helvetica Bold, which covers standard Latin letters and digits; emoji or non-Latin scripts won't render. It's drawn on top of the page content, so a 90 percent mark will hide the words beneath it. And since angled text rotates around its starting point, long wording at 45 degrees can drift toward a corner, so try a shorter phrase or a smaller size.
Before you send the file, open the result and flip through a few pages. A mark that reads nicely on a letter-size contract can look timid on a large-format drawing, and it's easier to rerun with a bigger font size than to explain it afterward.

Questions
Can I add an image or logo as a watermark?
Not here; this tool stamps text only. Short wording such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or a studio name works best. Characters outside the standard Latin set, including emoji, aren't supported.
How much control do I get over how it looks?
Opacity comes in five steps: 15, 30, 50, 70 and 90 percent. Angle can be horizontal, diagonal either way at 45 degrees, or vertical. You also pick gray, red or blue, and set the size in points.
Can the recipient remove the watermark?
Yes, if they have a PDF editor. The mark is ordinary page content, so it can be selected and deleted. Treat it as a label that discourages casual reuse, not as protection. Flattening the file into images makes removal harder, but it also costs you selectable text, and it still won't stop a patient person with an image editor.
Does it go on every page?
Every page gets the same text, size, color and angle, centered on the page. There's no option to skip a cover sheet, so split that page off first if you need it clean.
Is the watermark part of the file, or an overlay in one viewer?
It's written into the page content itself. Any viewer, browser or printer that opens the file will show it, because it isn't a layer that lives only in the app you used.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened, stamped and saved inside your browser tab, and nothing is transmitted. That's a relief when the document is still a confidential draft.
