Processing versus additional transaction fees
A payment processing fee is charged on essentially every order. A separate additional transaction fee can apply only under certain gateway/plan combinations — this tool never assumes it applies; you toggle it explicitly so the estimate matches your actual setup.

No current rate is hardcoded anywhere in this tool. Every percentage and fixed fee below is a value you supply, and the result always carries a visible reminder to verify current rates directly with Shopify before relying on the estimate.

Worked example (manual illustrative rates — not current Shopify rates)
$100 eligible base, 2% + $0.30 processing, separate applicable 1% transaction fee: (100 × 0.02 + 0.30) + (100 × 0.01) = $3.3 total.

Example: a $29/month plan at $0.30/order versus a $79/month plan at $0.05/order cross at n = (79 − 29) / (0.30 − 0.05) = 200 orders/month — below that volume the cheaper-subscription plan wins; above it, the lower-per-order-fee plan wins.

Questions
Are processing and transaction fees different?
Yes. Payment processing fees are typically charged by whichever gateway actually moves the money. A separate additional transaction fee can apply on top when a store uses a third-party payment gateway instead of the platform's own payments product — this tool never assumes that additional fee applies by default; you toggle it explicitly.
When does a higher plan become cheaper?
When the lower per-order fee on the pricier plan saves more, across your monthly order volume, than the extra subscription cost. This tool solves for that exact crossover order count from your two plans' subscription and per-order fees — below it, the cheaper-subscription plan wins; above it, the lower-per-order-fee plan wins.
